Nicole Holtslag
My name is Nicole Holtslag, a true 90s child born and raised in Northern Virginia. I am the mother to a brilliant little girl, Natasha; and the wife of a hard-working, supportive man, Daniel. My parents and brothers all live locally, and with them is my favorite place to be!
I am presently residing in Fauquier County, where I am lucky enough to be employed by one of the longest standing businesses in the surrounding area. This establishment is where I began my journey in the death care industry in early 2018. This field is not for everyone, and it absolutely takes the right person to thrive here.
Throughout my years working with the deceased and their families, I have been given the gift of comfort surrounding the acceptance of my own mortality. With this came a realization like no other as I considered everyone I care about, and I knew I had to get to work. This sense of peace is something I'm confident was made simpler through education and communication; being able to ask all the questions that crossed my mind to seasoned professionals. This resource is what I strive to make available to the general public.
It is human nature to fear the unknown. I truly believe this is one of the reasons the subject of death remains such a taboo. In a conversation surrounding another subject, people tend to add verbal content when they have information to share. What is to be said during an exchange about death and dying wishes when you are so unsure about it all?
I am here to break the ice through learning about ourselves, and to leave the individuals I serve with a sense of understanding and calmness surrounding the more mysterious of the two steps every living organism will take: to live and to die.
